Tributes to 'angel' classroom assistant at Scots school who died after testing positive for Coronavirus

Tributes are being paid to a "one in a million" classroom assistant at a Grangemouth school who has died after testing positive for coronavirus.

Kathleen McMahon, also known as Maureen, supported pupils and staff at Carrongrange High School.

Those who knew and loved her say she was an "angel" and "one of a kind".

Six schools within the Falkirk Council area are currently in the midst of coronavirus outbreaks, with at least one person at each having tested positive over the past seven days.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "Staff and pupils were saddened to hear of the death of a respected member of staff from Carrongrange High School recently.

"Kathleen (Maureen) McMahon was valued by colleagues and loved by the children and young people she supported.

"We offer our deepest sympathy to her family.

"Sadly, this shows that COVID-19 is still active across our communities and its devastating effects can impact on anyone."
