Tributes to 'absolute gentleman' after body found in brook

Tributes have been paid to a 38-year-old man whose body was found in a brook after he was reported missing.

Shane Heath was discovered in water on Brookway Lane in St Helens on January 23.

He had been missing for around 10 days and police had circulated a missing person's appeal following concerns from his family and friends.

Those close to Shane have spoken of their shock and shared memories about him.

One friend said: "Absolutely devastated, words can’t describe how deeply you will be missed by us all mate.

"An absolute gentleman and a true friend!

"I can’t believe I’m writing this.

"R.I.P Shane Heath never forgotten and always in are hearts.

"We will always treasure the wonderful memories we have mate!"

Another said: "Shocked to hear of the death of Shane Heath, rest in peace, mate, you'll be missed.

"Always had a laugh with you when you came in the Parr shop.

"You were always buying me chocolate."

And a friend added: "Can't believe it, RIP Shane.

"Thoughts are with all your family, you were one of a kind.

"You will be missed by many."

Mr Heath came from St Helens, police said, and his cause of death following a post mortem examination has been withheld, pending toxicology reports.

The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.
