Tributes to 75-year-old BMW driver killed in horror crash

The family of a 75-year-old man who was killed in a car crash in Widnes have paid tribute to him.

The emergency services were called to Derby Road at around 10.30am on July 15, following a crash involving a grey BMW X1 and a silver Nissan Note on Derby Road in the town.

Owen Batty, who was driving the BMW,  died shortly after the collision . The driver of the Nissan, a 58-year-old man from Widnes, was taken to hospital.

Mr Batty's family have now released a tribute to the ECHO , which reads: "Owen was a gentle man with a brilliant sense of humour.

“He will be truly missed by his family and everyone who ever knew him.”

Mr Batty’s funeral will be held at Widnes Crematorium at 12pm on Friday July 26. Family flowers only and any donations are to be made to North West Air Ambulance.
