Tributes have been pouring in for West Lothian mum Rachel Kennedy, who died at the weekend after a brave battle against cervical cancer.
Mum-of-two Rachel, who was just 33, was described as a "smart, beautiful and inspirational" by those who knew her.
Posting a statement on social media, family members told how she passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
They said: "Our beautiful Rachel died peacefully at home this morning, surrounded by her loved ones.
"May she rest in peace.
"One day we will meet again."
The Daily Record reported Tributes from friends and family have flooded in following the heartbreaking news.
One wrote: "Heartbroken to read this. Rach was smart, capable, beautiful, inspirational, and always put others before herself.
"She fought as hard as she possibly could, and left no stone unturned. Sending love and support to all her family."
Another added: "Thinking of all the family at this very sad time. Rachel truly was an inspiration to all of us and I will forever admire her determination to carry on making special memories for her precious boys."
"It was a privilege to know her. I truly believe she will always be with you. Rest in peace Rachel."
Rachel received her diagnosis three months after a GP originally left a voicemail informing her of the illness on a broken mobile phone.
She didn't receive a follow-up call.
Rachael then launched a fundraising drive to help prolong her life with sons Lewis (5) and Jude (4).
Tragically, by the time she had learned of the illness and received her first round of treatment, she was told the gut-wrenching news that the tumour had spread to her lungs.
A fifth-round of chemotherapy was initially thought to have reduced the size of the tumour, but a CT scan later revealed the aggressive illness had continued to cause issues and was now present in her liver.
Rachel’s family previously wrote that they felt “let down” by the NHS after the first signs of the condition were repeatedly missed.
They launched a gofundme to help fund treatment that would give her “an extra 12-17 months” with her two young children.
However, the heartbreaking news she had passed away was confirmed on the Facebook page ‘Be the Queen of Your Own Castle,’ which Rachel had used to document her treatment journey.
