The mum-of-two, aged in her early 30s, died on Saturday night when her Audi was involved in a crash on the N2 near her home in Ardee.

Locals have been left in shock after the sad accident with Sarah leaving behind two young kids.

He wrote on Facebook: "Sarah is the daughter of Eoin Larkin who is prominent in the Seamus Ludlow campaign. I wish to extend my condolences to the entire Larkin circle.

"It’s a sad day for the Larkin family today. My thoughts are with them.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis."

While another member of the Seamus Ludlow campaign said they were "deeply saddened" by the tragic news.

They said: "I am deeply saddened to announce sad reports just coming in of the tragic death of Sarah Larkin, a daughter of our prominent Ludlow family campaign member Eoin Larkin.

"Sarah was a 31-year-old mother of two living in Ardee.

"I would like to convey my own deepest sympathies and those of all in the wider Ludlow family circle to Eoin and all the Larkin family at this saddest of times. May she Rest In Peace."
