Dublin is sadly saying goodbye to a well-known Order of Malta Officer who sadly died suddenly over the weekend.
David Leavy was an ex-Officer in Charge of the Balbriggan Unit and also a familiar face in the Swords and Palmerstown areas after stints there.
Order of Malta Ireland issued a heartbreaking statement announcing the sad news.
They said: "It is regret that we advise of the passing of one of our members.
"David Leavy will be sadly missed. He was a true and respected gentleman."

They added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this sad time."
Colleagues had nothing but kind words for their former workmate who they described as a kind and a gentle soul.
One said: "Shocked and saddened to hear David has died. He'll be fondly remembered by all who knew him. RIP David. Hope you have a great party in heaven with all your OMAC buddies gone before you."
Another added: "So shocked to hear of his sudden passing, we trained as EMT's together when OMAC was first embarking on training members to this level. He was the embodiment of what it means to be a member and will certainly certainly be missed."
A third commented: "Sorry to hear of the death of David may he Rest in peace. David was a mighty community person who gave years of dedicated voluntary service to and through the Order of Malta. David will be missed both by his colleagues in the service and all who knew him."
