Tributes have been pouring in after a young man tragically lost his life after being stabbed in west Dublin.
Noel Whelan, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident at a house in Mulhuddart on Saturday evening.
Emergency services rushed to Castlecurragh Heath, where Mr Whelan received medical attention before being announced dead a short time later.
The incident is believed to have been the result of a domestic row and is not linked to any ongoing feuds in the Mulhuddart/Blanchardstown area.
Investigating gardai later arrested a man in his 40s.
Heartbroken pals described Noel as a "lovely character" as they reacted to the shocking news.

One said: "You really don't know what tomorrow holds for any of us, always let the ones you love know it and give them that extra squeeze tonight.
"A devastating time for the area, losing another genuine nice bloke and childhood friend.
"RIP Noelie you'll be sadly missed. Thinking of all the Whelan family at this devastating time, so hard to believe."Another said: "Heartbreaking, I really cant believe it, god love him."
One local said: "Life is so cheap. RIP Noel. Sincere condolences to the Whelan family at this heartbreaking time."
Man, 20s, dies following violent stabbing incident in Mulhuddart, west Dublin
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Blanchardstown are investigating the death of a man in his 20s following an incident at house in Mulhuddart.
"Shortly after 6pm Gardaí attended the scene of an incident in a house at Castlecurragh Heath, Mulhuddart where a man in his 20s was discovered with apparent stab wounds. He was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel but was pronounced dead a short time later.
"Investigating Gardaí have since arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the incident.
"He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Finglas Garda Station."
Gardai also confirmed a post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place today.
