Tributes pour in for 'one in a million' Scots biker killed in horror crash

Tributes are pouring in for a 'one in a million' Scots biker killed in a horror crash.

We told how John Campbell Dickson, from Doune, Perthshire was killed when his Kawasaki motorbike collided with a Mitubishi Outlander on the A85, east of Connel, on Friday.

The 62-year-old had been rushed to Lorne and Islands District and General Hospital after the smash around 3.20pm.

He was sadly pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.

Heartbroken loved ones paid tribute to John in their droves on social media.

Social media posts hail the motorcyclist as 'one of the nicest people you will ever meet' and a man who 'will be sorely missed'.

One person wrote: "So sad, RIP John.

"You were one of the best and will be sorely missed.

"John really was one of the nice guys."

Another friend said: "So saddened by this

"You were one in a million, John and I have so many happy memories of you over the years.

"RIP, my friend."

A third posted: "Such a lovely guy, devastated for his family.

"RIP John."

Another commented: "One of the nicest people you could meet. RIP John."

It's understood that kind-hearted strangers stopped and tried to save John.

The road was closed for around nine hours to allow a full collision investigation to take place.

Officers are still appealing for witnesses, and are particularly interested in speaking to the driver of a white Transit-type van who was in the area when the crash happened.

Inspector Archie McGuire, of Police Scotland’s Argyll and West Dunbartonshire Road Policing Unit, paid tribute to John and urged witnesses to come forward.

He said: “Our thoughts go out to Mr Dickson's family at this difficult time.

“We wish to speak to anyone with information surrounding this crash, specifically the driver of the white Transit-type van, who we believe may be able to assist with our enquiries.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage of the area to please come forward.

"Local officers can be contacted via 101, quoting reference number 2350 of April 2."
