Tributes pour in for 'lovely' young West Lothian man with 'infectious smile'

Tributes have been paid to a young West Lothian man with an "infectious smile" after he was found dead in Bathgate. Jamie Aitchison, 20, was reported missing after vanishing from his home on Tuesday night.

A frantic search was launched before emergency services were called to a wooded area near Torphichen Road in the town at around 9am on Wednesday. Jamie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances relating to the death. Heartbroken loved ones have since described Jamie as a 'lovely young man' report the Record.

Step-sister Emily Knox said: “Blood doesn’t determine a sibling, it’s family and love that does. Growing up I was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by brothers including my two step-brothers, Jamie and Bailey, with Jamie being my older brother.

"I’m absolutely heartbroken to lose a boy I considered my brother, and even more so when realising our youngest brother Oscar will grow up without you.”

Jack Aitchison said: “Kicking lumps out each other toy fighting, Playing football in the living room thinking we were in the champions league final.. Days I’ll never forget and I hope you don’t mate. Like a brother. RIP Jamie Aitchison.”

Nelly Khan said: “Where to start, my heart hurts so much Jamie, from changing your nappies, to nursery runs, school runs, to having a pint. I watched you grow into a lovely young man, I have so many memories of you cuz you're gonna be missed so much, love you always Jamie.”

Francis Mahon said: “Another life taken far too young. Jamie Aitchison, a boy who was a great character, a heart full of love and a smile that could light up any room.

"Absolutely saddened by your passing and my thoughts are with your mum Ronnie and all the family at this time. Until we meet again, rest easy.”

Leah Grant said “An infectious, cheeky smile that Im and anyone that met him, will never forget. Cannot stress how important it is to speak out about how you are feeling no matter how big or small. Sending all my love.”

Rachel Weir said: “Rest easy Jamie. You made everyone laugh anytime we were around you. Just wish you knew how many people you had.”

Officers say a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal following Jamie's death.
