Tributes pour in for 'little angel' Limerick baby boy who tragically died in car crash

Tributes have poured in for a baby boy who died in a car crash in Co Limerck.

Four-month-old Dion Ryan tragically died and his mum Danielle was seriously injured in the two-car collision on Friday.

It's believed Danielle remains in a serious condition in Cork University Hospital following the crash.

One friend posted online: "RIP baby Dion. Heartbreaking. Danielle, hope you pull through this. Thinking of all the Ryan family at this time."

Another local told the Limerick Leader: "He is a little angel in heaven now, nothing is surer. It would break your heart."

Baby Dion was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced dead, shortly after the crash which happened at around 2pm.

The female driver of the second vehicle was taken by ambulance to the same hospital as a precaution.

Danielle, who is in her 20s, from Caherconlish but living in Kilteely, Co Limerick.  She was driving near the village of Cappamore at the Four Cross when the collision happened.

Cappamore-based Fianna Fáil Councillor Martin Ryan said the local communitywere in “total shock”.

He said: “It has struck the heart of everyone here. You have a little baby losing their life, it’s very tragic.

“My heart goes out to all the people involved. It’s tragic beyond belief.”

He added: “I didn't know them. We are saying prayers for everyone involved and their families. There has been accidents there but it is just a standard four cross junction and people need to take care.”

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Bruff garda station on 061-382940.

The Irish Mirror has contacted the Garda Press Office for an update on the condition of the injured women.
