Graham grew up in south Dublin where he attended Sandford Park School in Ranelagh and later graduated from Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design.

Graham Knuttel's official Facebook Page said: "It is with great sadness that we write to let you know that Graham passed away peacefully on Saturday 27th of May, 2023, surrounded by his family.

"You will know that he engaged in life as he engaged in his art - that is to say, boldly and without reserve. He greatly valued the cut and thrust of debate and the vivid colours that satire and dark humour deliver.

"We know that he is grateful to you all for having made the connection."

One mourner said: "RIP Graham. Your work brought so much joy to our house. Thank you. Your work is treasured by our family."

Another said: "RIP a great Artist."

A third said: "Thank you Graham for all the joy you brought to the world with your wonderful art, especially Ginger cat. May you paint the heavens in bright colours for eternity."

A fourth said: "Awh such sad news. Condolences to Ruth and all the family. A wonderful friend and genius"
