Tributes pour in for Edinburgh train driver who died after battle with coronavirus

An Edinburgh train driver has sadly passed away after a battle with COVID-19.

LNER chief, David Horne, paid tribute to train driver, Tam, who is believed to have worked at Edinburgh Waverly.

In a social media post, Mr Horne said: "Remembering Tam. My thoughts are with Tam's family and friends."

Tributes poured in for Tam and his family, one person wrote: "RIP Tam Edinburgh Waverley."

Someone else wrote: 'Please pass on the condolences of everybody at TPE Newcastle to Bob and the team at Edinburgh. Heartbreaking."

Another said: "RIP. Very sad to hear we've lost a member of the railway family. #StayHomeSaveLives."

A LNER spokesperson told EEN : “It is with great sadness that we confirm one of our colleagues has passed away after testing positive for coronavirus, having also had an underlying health condition.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to their family and friends. LNER is providing support to family and colleagues at this difficult time, and we ask that their privacy is respected.
