Tributes pour in for "amazing" mother and Cork lecturer who died suddenly

Tributes are pouring in online for the late MTU Professor Gail Cotter-Buckley, who passed away unexpectedly over the weekend.

Gail sadly died on Sunday at Cork University Hospital and is being remembered as an “amazing” mother.

The lecturer at Munster Technological University - in the Department for Hospitality and Tourism - has received heaps of praise for her work in the industry and as a professor.

She is remembered as an "amazing mother" who had a huge group of friends that formed as she went through life in Mayfield, Aghada, and Bantry.

According to her family, Gail died peacefully on Sunday evening under the care of the ICU team at Cork University Hospital.

A spokesperson for the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at MTU took to social media to pay tribute to the lecturer.

In a post online they said: "We are devastated to share this terrible news with students current & past about our dear colleague & friend Gail.

"Our thoughts are with her daughters at this very difficult time. May Gail Rest in Peace."

Her colleagues and friends have been paying tribute to Gail who was well known and loved by many in the hospitality businesses in Cork and beyond as well as at MTU.

In a tweet, one wrote: "We are all shocked at Gail's untimely passing - sincere condolences to you all and to Gail's family and friends from all of us - we will remember her fondly".

A second said: "Am in shock. A wonderful person always had time for a chat."

"Gail was an amazing person, so sad to hear this sending love to her family," commented a third.

Funeral details are yet to be released.
