Tributes pour in following the death of much loved headteacher

Tributes have been left for a much-loved headteacher who died after a "long struggle with Parkinsons".

Mollie Cardus, served as a teacher, headteacher and Girl Guide leader throughout her life.

She was headteacher at Cantril Farm Primary School for more than 20 years, retiring in 1983 - she remained a part of the Girl Guide community for years afterwards.

Having spent 10 years as the President of Merseyside Girl Guides, Mollie was one of the first Brownies in the 1930s, and Captain of the 86th (All Hallows) and 193rd (Allerton) Guides.

Mollie spent the last three years of her life at Aughton Park care home, where her nephew Andrew Culshaw insists she was "very well looked after".

Mollie and her twin sister Joyce Douglas were both members of Brownies and Girl Guides from the age of eight.

Speaking about his aunt, Andrew told the ECHO: "So many tributes have flooded in for a very special person who inspired so many young people."

The tributes have came from many people who worked with Mollie over her career and Guides she made an impression on.

Andrew told the ECHO: "Mollie was an inspirational leader and a role model for many in their future careers and as Guide leaders."
