Tributes have been pouring in after the sudden death of a popular young Irishman.
Rory Purcell, who lived in Howth, Co Dublin, tragically passed away on Tuesday.
Rory was the nephew of Dublin football player and manager Tommy Carr and the grandson of legendary Galway footballer Seán Purcell, Galway Beo reports.
And tributes have been pouring in to the young man, with Tuam councillor and former TD Colm Keavaney mourning the "sad and painful loss".
He wrote: "My deepest condolences to Tessa, Robert and children on the sad and painful loss of Rory.
"We light a candle for all those affected by sadness and grief and in the hope that the prospect of light gives strength and hope needed during this difficult time.
"Please be strong in the knowledge that so many friends and colleague’s care very much for you folks."
While Dublin club Peamount United also passed on their condolences to the family.
They added: "Peamount United wish to express their sincere sympathies to the McCartan Family on the sad passing of Frances’s nephew/Lucy’s cousin Rory Purcell. May Rory Rest In Peace."
And Rory's family have confirmed a funeral mass would take place on Saturday.
A post on RIP.ie reads: "Purcell Rory, Howth and formerly of St. Patrick's Terrace, Inchicore and late of Belvedere College and Gaelscoil, Inchicore. Tragically, on the 1st February 2022.
"Much loved son of Tessa and Robert. Very sadly missed by his loving parents, sister Amy, brother Aran, grandparents Mary and Nick, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and a wide circle of friends.
"Reposing at his home on Friday, 4th February, from 6pm to 8pm. Removal to the Church of Assumption, Howth on Saturday afternoon for 2.30pm Funeral Mass."
