The young boy who tragically died after being knocked off his bike in Co Carlow has been named locally as Adam Lyons.
It is believed the boy, 10, was struck while out cycling with a group of friends at around 1.30pm on Thursday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the Borris to Fenagh road near Ballymartin.
He was treated there before being transferred by helicopter to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin where he later died.
The Ballymartin boy was a 4th class student and was heavily involved in local sports.
The Boris Parish Community paid tribute to the boy and offered their condolences to the family.
A spokesperson said: "Borris Parish Community Alert Committee would like to express there sincere condolences to the Lyons Family Ballymartin on the Passing of their 10-year-old son Adam after a tragic accident yesterday lunchtime.
"His Father Eddie is one of our committee members. Please spare a tough today for all involved in this tragic incident. Ar dheis De go raibh."
His football team also offered their condolences.
Goresbridge United said in a statement: "It is with deep regret that we learn of the passing of Adam Lyons.
"Adam was a valued member of our u10 squad heartfelt sympathy from all here at the club to his parents sister and brother friends school mates and anyone who was blessed to have known him we will all miss Adam."
Funeral details are to be released in the coming days - while gardai continue to appeal for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the accident.
A garda spokesperson said: "A garda spokesman said: "The 10 year old male cyclist seriously injured in a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a jeep that occurred in the Ballymartin area of Borris, County Carlow on Thursday 25th June 2020, has passed away from his injuries at Temple Street Children's University Hospital.
"Gardaí are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this collision to come forward, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
