Tributes pour in after tragic accident in UK kills 'kind and gentle' Limerick native

Tributes have poured in for a Limerick native who was killed in a road traffic accident in the UK last month.

James Nolan, 44, was from Templeathea East in Athea.

He had been living in London for the last 15 years - but died after a tragic traffic incident on April 21.

He is survived by his fiancée Vanessa and his three children - Harley, Chevy and Eden.

His brother Connor said that his sibling had a "kind soul". He told the Limerick Leader: “James will always be remembered for his kind soul and gentle nature, but will be lost to us as a dear partner, father, son, and brother to many. Thank you all, your support is valued and will not be forgotten,”

Athea GAA sent a jersey and flag to Mr Nolan’s family in London which will be placed on his coffin for his funeral Mass later this week.

Hundreds of tributes flooded in from locals and those who knew Mr Nolan.

One mourner said: "James was a wonderful man and a good friend. He will be missed by all his friends in London."

Another added: "I have fond memories of fun times spent in his company," while Athea GAA remembered their former player in an emotional post.

They said: "James was a prominent underage footballer with Athea, being part of some very successful teams. James was tall, strong and fast, he played most of his football at centre half back. He along with his team mates, won The West Limerick, u14 football league and championship in 1991, in 1993 they reached the county u16 football final and in 1995 they won the County u18 div 3 Final. James was also on the U21 football panel that won the clubs only West Limerick Premier U21 football title in 1996. James will be fondly remembered by all his team mates and coaches, may his soul rest in peace."
