Tributes pour in after sudden death of young Cavan teenager

Tributes have been pouring in after the sudden death of a young Cavan teenager.

Alannah Fay, 16, from Ballyjamesduff tragically passed away on Monday, September 21.

Local club Lavey GAA were the first to pay tribute to the "beautiful soul", and offered support to the family.

The Ladies' team wrote: "Our hearts are broken as we offer our deepest sympathies to Ivo, Gillian, Keelin, Riona, Aoibhinn and their extended family, on the sudden passing of Alannah, may her beautiful soul rest in peace.

"Words fail to express our sorrow for your loss. Please know we are with you through this difficult time."

While Cavan Ladies Gaelic Football wrote on Facebook: "Cavan Ladies join with the Lavey Gaa Club in heartfelt sympathy as we learn of the sudden passing of Alannah Fay.

"As a community we ask that there is a reaching out for help, the touching hand of support and the open and accepting ear of listening so that the quietest voice can be carried through this dark time.

"May Alannah's gentle soul rest in eternal peace."

Local soccer club Ballyjamesduff AFC also passed on their sympathies, adding: "Everyone at Balljamesduff AFC would like to offer our deepest sympathies to Ivo, Gillian, Keelin, Riona, Aoibhinn and their extended family, on the sudden passing of Alannah Fay. May Alannah rest in peace."

And Alannah's family have now confirmed she will be laid to rest in a service on Thursday.

A post on RIP.ie reads: "We are deeply saddened to announce that the death has occurred of Alannah Fay, New Inns, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan. Our beautiful daughter Alannah Fay, aged 16 years, passed away on the 21st of September 2020.

"Deeply missed by her adoring parents Ivo and Gillian, sisters Keelin, Ríona and Aoibhinn; doting grandparents Pat & Susan Fay, and Patsy & Maureen Brennan, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.

"Funeral Mass on Thursday morning at 11am in St. Dympna's Church, Lavey, with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

"In keeping with the current government guidelines and HSE guidelines, please observe Covid19 restrictions."
