Tributes pour in after Coronation Street star dies aged 65

Andrew Hall, the actor who played Audrey Roberts' love interest on Coronation Street, has died.

Tributes have poured in for the beloved actor, who died aged 65, Liverpool ECHO reports .

His management, talent house, InterTalent posted on Twitter to say: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our client and friend Andrew Hall who sadly passed away on Monday after a short illness.

"Andrew was loved by audiences for his many roles, most notably Butterflies, Coronation Street and, more recently, Syfy’s Blood Drive.

"Andrew was a true gentleman; kind, funny, always positive, hugely talented& immensely giving.

"We will miss him immensely. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Abigail and all Andrew’s family & friends."

Despite his most noteworthy role being Marc Selby in Coronation Street, Andrew first came to the attention of UK viewers as Russell Parkinson in Butterflies.

His first appearance as Marc Selby on Coronation Street was in 2011 when he delighted fans as the cross-dressing love interest of Audrey Roberts.

He also appeared in many other TV shows, including Hollyoaks, Holby City and Two Point Four Children.

The Mirror Online reported that Josh Hall, Andrew's son, paid tribute to him in a heartwarming statement.

He said: "Andrew began his acting career playing the character of Russell in the BBC series Butterflies.

"He then worked extensively as an actor on both stage and screen including a period at the RSC and a run as Bill in the West End production of Mamma Mia!

"Later he worked as a director and producer, enjoying successes with productions including Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? at the Trafalgar, and Kindertransport, which toured the UK.

"Most recently he appeared as The Gentleman in the SyFy series Blood Drive.

"He is survived by his wife Abigail, his mother Mabel, his children Kate and Josh, and his grandchildren Jasper and Maggie."
