Tributes pour for Fife man who tragically died after a 'heart attack at the wheel'

Tributes have poured in after a man tragically passed away after suffering a heart attack at the wheel.'

The 63-year-old man has been named locally as John King and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near the Cowdenbeath junction.

The incident took place at around 10 pm on Saturday and the two children involved were kept in hospital overnight after suffering minor injuries.

The wife of John from Lochgelly, Anne, has told on social media how her husband was the driver of the vehicle and he 'suffered a cardiac arrest' while driving, reports the Daily Record.

Tributes have poured for the man who lost his life, with one person saying: "My thoughts are with the family at this time.”

Another said: "Thoughts are with the family of the person who lost his life.”

A third added:"So very sad thoughts and love to the families involved.”

Witnesses to the crash said one car ended up 'in a field'.

One wrote on social media: "Massive pile up between Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly.

"There are eight fire trucks, 12 ambulances and around 20 police officers on the scene.

"If you're heading from Kirkcaldy to Cowdenbeath way, avoid the motorway."

Another added: "Really bad accident."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 9.55pm on Saturday September 12 officers in Fife received reports of a one vehicle crash on the A92 near the Cowdenbeath junction.

“Emergency services attended and a 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Two boys, a 12-year-old and a one year old baby, were taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment to minor injury and kept overnight for observation.

"The road was closed for a number of hours and reopened around 1pm on Sunday, September 13.
