Residents are being urged to light a candle tomorrow in memory of a murdered Kilmarnock mum on what would've been her 40th birthday.
Thursday also marks two weeks to the day when Emma Robertson Coupland was killed outside her work at Crosshouse Hospital.
The 39-year-old NHS cleaner was attacked by estranged ex-partner Steven Robertson who then went on to kill Emma's daughter, Nicole Anderson, on Portland Street in the town centre minutes later.
Robertson, 40, was later found dead after a car he was driving crashed into a tree on the C50, between the B7036 and A76 near Ochiltree.
Tragically, it was revealed by NHS Ayrshire & Arran that Emma had joined the health board during the pandemic and had only been working at Crosshouse Hospital for around four months before she was killed.
But now residents of the town Emma lived in are being urged to light up the night to remember Emma on what would've been her 40th birthday tomorrow.
Fundraising to pay for Emma and Nicole's funeral also edged closer to hitting the £26,000 mark today.
The mother and daughter will be laid to rest at a joint-funeral next Wednesday at Riccarton cemetery at 2pm.
