The death of a young mum with a “beautiful soul” and “big heart” has sent shockwaves through her network of friends.
Jess Ross, a 25-year-old with a young son, died suddenly on Sunday, Daily Record reports.
Heartbroken pals of the Edinburgh woman flocked to social media, to share their memories of their “caring” friend.
Sharing pictures of the duo together on Facebook, one pal wrote: “I am so lost for words right now. You were such a pure, caring, genuine soul.
“Your heart was so big and I was lucky to call you my best friend. I promise to do you proud and push through each day for you.”
The friend said Jess would always have a “special place” in their heart, and promised to be there for “Char” and remind him of how amazing his mum was, when he grew up.
“You will be with me forever Jess Ross thank you for being the best friend a girl could ever need! I love you with all my heart.”
Another said: “A human being can survive almost anything if they see the light at the end but depression is so insidious it compounds daily, it’s impossible to ever see the light at the end and with the judgment of people in this day in age one of the hardest things to talk about is mental health.
“Be kind to one another as you don’t know what anyone is going through! Rest easy you beautiful soul! Jess Ross.”
A third shared that they were “absolutely heartbroken” to receive the news.
“I don’t want to believe it. I can’t get my head round it at all,” they wrote.
“I just don’t know what I’m going to do without you. I wish you knew how much me and the kids loved you. Fly high beautiful.”
A fourth said they were “devastated” to hear about the passing of Jess, who was their childhood neighbour.
"Growing up with her as a next door neighbour was certainly not a quiet one but it allowed us to be quite close, always in and out of one another’s houses when we were younger,” they said.
“I’ll always remember the days spent out at the Safari park, Football, M&D’s, the family parties and many other things we got up to.
“The world is a cruel place but you’re at peace now. Rest Easy my pal, miss you.”
