Tributes paid to young Lanarkshire man found dead in his bed at age of 27

Tributes have poured in after a young Lanarkshire man was tragically found dead in his bed at the age of 27.

Ryan McCarroll, from Blantyre, died in his sleep the day before he was due to pick up the keys to his new home. His body was found by his devastated mum Annie on Tuesday, October 18.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained with the results of a post-mortem and toxicology test results to be confirmed, the Daily Record reports.

Ryan, a factory worker, was described by his brother JohnPaul, 33, as as fitness fanatic and said his sudden death has left his family in shock.

He told the Record: "He went to sleep and never woke up again. He was living with my mum at the time. My mum can't stay in the house anymore as she found him. She has taken it really bad.

"Ryan was going to pick up the keys to his new house that morning."

"It has been devastating and it is still a shock. I feel like I'm going to wake up and it's all been a dream."

Paying tribute to his little brother, JohnPaul added: "Ryan was such a lively soul. He was outgoing and he loved to have a laugh and party.

"He loved his fitness and went to the gym after work. He was just a normal young guy in his twenties."

A fundraiser has been launched in his memory by his cousin Courtney with around £1,000 raised so far.

Writing on the fundraising page, she said: "Our beloved Ryan McCarroll suddenly passed away in his sleep on 18th October. Ryan was a wonderful son, brother , nephew & cousin who touched the lives of those around him.

"Ryan’s life was sadly cut short at the age of 27 leaving behind his mum Annie and brother JohnPaul.

"We are all devastated by Ryan's loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. We want to give Ryan the memorial he deserves, to honour his memory and say our last goodbyes."

Ryan's funeral will be held at Saint Andrews Church in Blantyre with the procession in green and gold to mark his life-long love for Celtic FC.
