Tributes paid to young Celtic fan who drowned in Ayrshire loch tragedy

A distraught mum has paid tribute to her son who drowned in a swimming accident in Ayrshire .

Brandon Patton, 18, got into difficulty at Loch Doon, near Dalmellington.

His mum Lianne and gran Trisha wrote on social media “We are heartbroken”.

And they have said “it would be amazing” if fellow Celtic fans paid tribute to Brandon at this Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final with a round of applause in the 18th minute.

Liane and Trisha posted photos of Brandon wearing Celtic tops and in his McDonald’s uniform.

Heartbroken family and friends also left tributes on the Facebook page.

Brandon died a week ago after going in to the water on a hot day.

Trisha said: “We are heartbroken. He was a friend to so many.”

Photos were also posted which showed balloons laid near the scene of the tragedy at the water’s edge.

Trisha wrote: “I don’t normally post things on here so personal, but as its all over social media, can now confirm Brandon Patton born 9-8-2000, sadly died after a tragic accident on 16-5-2019, aged 18.

“We as a family as you can imagine are heartbroken, Brandon was a son, grandson, brother, nephew great grandson, and friend to so many , we are still trying to process everything that’s happened these last couple of days.

“We feel so blessed to have had him in our lives. Kindest, funniest, most loving generous young man with his whole life ahead of him, and made me the proudest gran in the world.”
