Tributes paid to 'wonderful young Gashead man' who died aged just 21

Tributes have been paid to a young Bristol Rovers fan following his death earlier this month

Cory Leaworthy, 21, died on Sunday, March 5, and has been described as a "very well loved young man". A fundraising page has been set up to help cover the funeral costs and has so far raised more than £12,000 after received more than 500 donations. It had an original target of £5,000.

Several tributes were paid in the page, with one saying: "Such a young age…taken way too young. May you Rest In Peace. Condolences to all the family." Another reads: "Rest in paradise Cory, such a kind soul and will not be forgotten by so many," said another.

And another tribute reads: "Thank you for the funny memories and for always being so kind to everyone around you, you’ll forever be missed. Sending all of my love to Cory’s family and friends."

The page states that Mr Leaworthy took his own life and that, once the funeral costs are covered, any further funds raised will be donated to a mental health charity for young adults.

His dad Paul Leaworthy said: "I would like to say me and Louise the mum and daughters Danielle and Lauren will always remember Cory as a loving boy who was always there for everyone else. We as a family want to promote this page so no other family will go through the pain like we are at present. A special mention to Ann Watts for helping us raise this money and set up the page and a special thanks to Pete Hazzard who was there with me when I had the devastating phone call and helped me back to Bristol when I was over Wales.

"Cory had loads of friends and loved his football and going to festivals all over Europe. He will be sadly missed and there is a hole now which we will never fill again."

The fundraising page states Cory Leaworthy was a very well loved young man not only by his family, but by all his friends and all who knew him.

It said: "Cory’s family’s world has been torn in two and as I’m sure you will agree with me no father or mother should loose a child in this or any other way. I have set up this page with the request of the family to help raise funds to give Cory the best send off this wonderful young Gashead man deserved.

"Once the amount has been met lot cover funeral costs any monies remaining will go to a charity for Mental Health for young adults as requested by Cory’s Family. Please it doesn’t matter how much of a donation you can all give, every penny will be so much appreciated.

"Paul, Louise,Danielle and Lauren you are all in our thoughts and hearts at this devastating time."
