Tributes have been paid to a tragic dad-of-four following his death in a farming accident.

Shane O'Brien, 48, died while working in a milking parlour in The Boola, in Adamstown, Co Wexford, on Monday.

The scene was preserved for gardai, The Farming Independent reports.

Emergency services attended the farm and Mr O'Brien's body was taken from the scene for a post-mortem examination.

Mr O'Brien, a native of Newbawn, is predeceased by his mother Eileen and his brother Richard who passed away following a battle with cancer two years ago.

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Sadly missed by his loving family Ann, Miriam Conor, Evan, James, Maeve, Dick, Lisa, Joanne and David, extended family and friends."

Mr O'Brien's wake was held at his residence in Kilbraney on Wednesday and his Funeral Mass took place in The Church of The Sacred Heart, Newbawn on Thursday.

He was buried afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
