Tributes paid to tragic Stephen Gleeson, 21, who died after car overturned during crash near Nenagh, Co Tipperary

Tributes have been paid to a young man who was killed in an early morning car crash in Co Tipperary on Sunday.

Stephen Gleeson, 21, was travelling with three pals along the Portroe to Garykennedy road outside Nenagh when their car hit a ditch and overturned at around 5:30am.

Stephen, who was a rear seat passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.

Online tributes have poured in the for the popular young Nenagh man.

One mourner posted: "Words can’t describe how you’ve left us all feeling , heart broken is an understatement.

"Always so happy and bright, put a smile on anyone’s face, the memories will live on, you deserved so much more than this.

"Rest In Peace Steve, you’ll never be forgotten."

Another added: "Bed of heaven to you kiddo. The world is a lot less fun with you gone. Can't believe it. Fly high bud."

The other three occupants of the car, two men aged in their 20s and one man in his late teens, were taken to University Hospital Limerick with non life threatening injuries.

In a statement, gardai said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the Portroe to Garykennedy Road outside Nenagh Co. Tipperary at approximately 5:30am on 30/06/2019.

"One man, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His remains have been take to the Mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.

"The other three occupants of the car, two men aged in their 20s and one man in his late teens, were taken to University Hospital Limerick with non life threatening injuries. 

"The scene has been examined by Garda Forensic Examiners and the road has now re-opened.

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, and who may have dash cam footage, to contact Gardaí in Nenagh on 067 50450."
