Tributes paid to Somerset men who died abroad 'while taking a selfie'

Tributes have been paid to two Somerset men who died after falling 30 feet in an attempt "to take a photo".

Daniel Mee, Jayden Dolman and Lewis Higgins were seen near a set of steps and a lift leading to Punta Prima beach in Costa Blanca after 7pm on Wendesday night (July 3).

Local reports suggest the group, all from Bridgwater, were attempting to take a photograph before two men fell.

Mr Mee is said to have fallen between 20-30ft and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, reports Devon Live.

Mr Dolman was airlifted to Alicante General Hospital with multiple traumatic injuries and later died in hospital.

Mr Higgins was taken to Torrevieja Hospital after suffering a panic attack.

The dead men's families have travelled to Spain to retrieve their bodies while dozens of loved ones have posted on Facebook to share tributes.

Mirror Online reported how Jayden's sister, Charlie Dolman, posted a simple tribute to her brother on Facebook, writing: "I love you so much."

Another tribute said: "Charlie, I'm lost for words, and I'm sure none I could find would be able to help you as much as I want right now.

'Taken far too soon'

"Just know that you are in my thoughts and I'm here for you at any time."

Jayden's cousin, Nicola Rea, said: "Taken far too soon. We are all so devastated to lose such a beautiful young man.

"My heart is breaking for my cousin and family right now. RIP Jayden Dolman."

A school and college in Bridgwater has also paid its respects, saying: "The staff and students at Haygrove School are hugely saddened by the tragic news today that two young men from Bridgwater have died in an accident in Spain, one of which was a student here, as was the third young man who witnessed the incident.

"We would like to send out sincere condolences to their families."
