Cousin Brogan O’Connor posted: “Another blow to my family.

“Absolutely heartbroken to share the news of the tragic death of my young cousin Kayden.

“A wee boy with his full life ahead of him taken too soon in a freak accident as he was enjoying his summer holidays – our family will never be the same.

“Thoughts are with Charlene, Mary and the rest of our extended family at this truly devastating time."

“You really never know what is round the corner and I urge everyone to make the most of the time spent with their loved ones.”

It’s understood Kayden, who has three brothers, was a pupil at St Mungo’s Academy in Bridgeton, Glasgow.

The incident happened on a stretch of the Tay near the village of Stanley in Perthshire.

Kayden is believed to have been using a small surfboard known as a boogie board when he ran into trouble.

Water rescue teams from the fire service were called into action to help Kayden as police and air ambulance crews were called to the scene.

He was flown to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow where he lost his fight for life.

Dozens of family friends took to social media to pay tribute to the youngster.
