Scots Thai boxer Tam Hagan dies abroad after being cleared of £500k heroin rap

A Scots Thai boxer has suddenly died just one year after being cleared of a £500k heroin rap.

Thomas Hagan, 35, had been living in Thailand after fleeing Scotland while awaiting trial accused over £500,000 worth of heroin seized from a flat .

He was later cleared of the charge in the High Court in Glasgow .

The circumstances around his death are unclear.

It is understood he has a wife and child after he set up a new life from himself abroad.

Pals are fundraising to bring home Tam Hagan (Go Fund Me)

Pals have set up a Go Fund Me page to help fly the boxer home to Scotland.

The fundraising page reads: "Thomas Hagan all our hearts are breaking ... you were a much loved Son, Dad, Brother, Uncle, Cousin,  Godfather and an amazing friend.

"We are all absolutely devastated and can’t get our heads round this heartbreaking news.

"Thomas was the most generous guy, lived for his family and friends, I’m sure half of the east end have had a drink off him at one point in time.

"Please help us raise some money to fly Thomas home to be with his family at this sad and horrible time.

"Let’s help bring Thomas home so we can lay him to rest in his home town, the place where he made so many amazing memories with all you guys.

"Let’s get him home to his family he will be sorely missed heaven has gained a very special angel."

Brother James shared a picture of himself with Tam and wrote: "Rest in peace brother."

Pal Tony Steele described Tam as the 'life and soul of the party' who would put a smile on everyone's face.

Social media has been flooded with tributes to generous Tam (Facebook)

He wrote: "Gutted brother, you where the life an soul of a party and we've had some life long party’s together.

"Every funeral we were at you were the first to crack a joke.

"No matter how sad any yer mates were you put a smile on there faces.

"You easily bought half of Glasgow a drink.

"You will be missed, you really will mate. It wasn't your time bro, you were taken far too soon. Love you."

Allan Rowantree said: "Shocked to hear the news about Tam Hagan thoughts with the family at this sad time R.I.P Tam."

Thomas Watt said: "Horrible horrible news to wake up to, god bless you tam gutted for all your family and pals. Never a dull moment rest easy mate."

Lorraine Moffat said: "Tam was a great guy"

Alberto Petrucci said: "Gutted mate, one of the good guys taken too soon."

The fundraising page has raised £3,535 in just fourteen hours.
