Tributes paid to Rangers superfan as pals say Ibrox bus will 'never be the same'

Pals of a die-hard Rangers FC fan say ‘bus trips to Ibrox will never be the same’ after his sudden death aged just 59. Philip Morajda was reportedly found dead at his home in Whitburn, West Lothian, earlier this week leaving his friends and fellow Gers supporters heartbroken.

Heartfelt messages have poured in on social media after news of his passing broke, with one pal writing: “Still numb today after the terrible news yesterday. I always regarded Philip as someone who was Proper Rangers.

“Followed them everywhere at home and in Europe.Trips across the water will never be the same again. Feel free to leave any story or memory about Moraj following The Famous. I'm sure there are a few belters.”

The Linden Bar in Whitburn posted a touching tribute on Monday, which read: “Tragic week for sad news on Linden Old Boys. Philip Morajda has sadly passed away, having been found this morning at his home.

“He was undoubtedly one of the best known guys in Whitburn's Rangers supporting circles, and all his days he faithfully follow-followed his club all over Scotland, the UK and Europe.

Philip's death has sent shockwaves through the football community (UGC)

“Some of Morajda's tales are legendary and will survive, like his memory, for decades as long as people of Whitburn talk about The Rangers and those following the team.”

Another friend posted: “We just don't know the minute. A loveable rogue loved by us all. Never see your likes again Philip. Bus trips into Ibrox will never be the same. Good night Moraj.”

Cross Tavern Rangers Supporters Club added: “Today the whole of Whitburn was saddened by the news of the passing of a dear friend Philip Morijda. This man can be described in many ways - a great old school Rangers man, a close friend and one of the most caring men known to us all.

“Whether you are young or old, you will have heard this man’s stories of great trips from Dundee to Hamilton & not forgetting the many many trips over Europe following the team he loved, with the people he loved.

“Stories that will be held by everyone and told long after his passing. Maybe don’t want to tell all of them though, some things aren’t for public consumption. Rest easy Morijda, we will never forget you. Dundee, Hamilton.”

And Whitburn Flute Band wrote: “Whitburn Flute Band are saddened to hear of the passing of Philip Morajda.

A member of the band many moons ago, Morajda was still present at many of our functions and days out - unless of course, it got in the way of following his beloved Glasgow Rangers.

“He will be sadly missed by all in the band including those who travelled with him over the years on the European trips he loved so much.”
