Tributes paid to Rafal 'Ralph' Skora who tragically died following paragliding accident

Tributes have been paid to a north Dublin man who tragically died yesterday following a paragliding accident.

Rafal "Ralph" Skora, 30s, never returned to his home in Artane yesterday evening after spending time on the Wicklow mountains.

A search was carried out by gardai, the Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue and the Irish Coast Guard.

His body was found at 8am this morning in the Ballinacor Estate in Wicklow, along with wreckage.

The Irish Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association posted a statement in their Facebook group and sent their thoughts to his family and friends.

They said: "It is with deep regret we wish to inform all pilots that Ralph Skora died tragically following a paragliding accident.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. The accident is being investigated by the Air Accident Investigation Unit with the assistance of the IHPA.

"The AAIU will report in due course."

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "The body of a man in his 30s has been discovered following an apparent paragliding accident.

"The man is believed to have been on the Wicklow Mountains yesterday, Saturday May 11th 2019 and failed to return to his North Dublin home.

"Gardaí, Dublin –Wicklow Mountain Rescue commenced a search together with the Irish Coast Guard Rescue.

"At approximately 8am this morning, Sunday 12th May’19 the man’s body was discovered in a field at Ballinacor Estate, Wicklow together with wreckage.

"The body will be removed this morning for a Post Mortem examination. The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) have been informed and will commence an investigation."
