Tributes paid to popular young Cork man after tragic death following cancer battle

Tributes have been pouring in for a popular young Cork man who sadly died on Friday night.

Denis O'Sullivan, 35, is the son of well-known radio broadcaster Mike O'Sullivan.

Mr O'Sullivan had been battling cancer since June but sadly passed away in Cork University Hospital on Friday night surrounded by family, Cork Beo reports.

His father Mike said in a Facebook post: "Dear Friends. It is with the deepest sadness that I have to announce the passing of one of our son's, Denis, age 35. Denis was diagnosed with cancer last June and passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family, last night (Friday the 20th) at Cork University Hospital.

"Such a sad loss at a young age. Thanks to Doctor Bambury and his team. CUH staff of ward GB, porters, catering, security etc. Funeral details later."

Friends and listeners have been offering their condolences to Mike and the family after the untimely death.

One person said: "Ah Mike so sorry to hear this. Such a rough time you have had. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this terrible time."

Another added: "I am so sorry for your loss Mike my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family."

Funeral details are set to be released on RIP.ie - our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
