Shamrock Rovers led tributes to the much loved mother-of-one.

In a Facebook post, the club said: "All at Shamrock Rovers F.C. and Tallaght Stadium are deeply saddened at the sudden passing of matchday steward Catherine Jones who passed away on Monday.

"Catherine was a steward at Rovers for 8 seasons and was the Deputy Event Controller since mid 2018.

"Such a happy smiling face that greeted all fans to the stadium, Catherine had made many friends within the Rovers family and will be sadly missed.

"Our thoughts are with Catherine's family, friends and matchday colleagues. RIP."

"She was always a happy person to meet on match night. She will be sadly missed, may you rest in peace Catherine."
