Tributes paid to popular former bus driver following death in horror crash

The family of a popular former bus driver who died in a horror crash in Trafford has paid a moving tribute to the 'loyal and loving dad, son, brother and friend'.

Ronald Brown, 56, died following a collision between Seat Altea and a Vauxhall Astra on Seymour Grove, near the junction with Kinds Road in Stretford, Trafford, shortly before 3am in the early hours of Saturday (April 4).

One of the vehicles caught fire following the crash.

Emergency services quickly responded, but Mr Brown could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A family statement released via GMP reads: "Ronald was a loyal and loving dad, son, brother and friend.

"He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need, and his positive nature touched everyone he met.

"He was witty and humble, but also determined and motivated.

"He would always take the time to encourage us in our various endeavours, and provide support whenever we needed it.

“He will be sadly missed by us all – not just by his family, but also by the wider community.”

Police were called to Seymour Grove in the early hours of Saturday morning (ASP)

Mr Brown was a bus driver with Stageocach Manchester for 17 years,based at the Sharston depot in Wythenshawe. He left earlier this year.

The company said in a statement: "We’re very sorry to learn of this terribly sad news and our heart goes out to his friends and family at this time."

One former colleague said on Facebook: "R.i.p Mr Brown, work at shraston bus deopt with this lad good bless R.I.P mate."

South Manchester Coroners' Court confirmed a file had been passed to staff and that an inquest would be opened in due course.

A 35 year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation.
