Tributes paid to 'one of life's good guys' after body found in search for missing Michael Sheldon

Tributes have been paid to 'one of life's good guy's' after police found a body in the search for missing Michael Sheldon.

The 39-year-old left a property on Thornwood Drive in Glasgow at around 6.50am on Tuesday, March 21.

Police confirmed on Saturday that a body they believe to be Michael's was found by officers in Bridge of Earn, Perthshire, at around 12.50pm.

They said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

Michael's heartbroken sister Lucy Sheldon said the family have been left devastated by his death.

Posted the tragic news on social media, Lucy added: "Thank you to absolutely everyone who has helped us this week to find Michael

"Yesterday, just after 3pm two Police officers visited my brother Matthew to tell him that a body had been found at 12.50pm.

"We are still to formally identify him, but the Police are certain it is our Michael.

"Our family are beyond devastated.".

Staff at The Edge Gym, where Michael was a member also paid tribute.

They said: "We are tremendously sorry to have to share the tragic news that the body of Michael Sheldon has been found.

"Michael was one of our members and a genuinely lovely person. He will be missed greatly - thoughts and prayers with his family and friends."

Police posted the tragic news on Facebook last night and those who knew Michael were quick to comment.

One said: "Such heartbreaking news, he was such a nice guy. Sending thoughts to his family at this awful time."

Another added: "Heartbreaking news. One of life’s good guys. Ready easy Sheldon."

"Condolences to his his family and friends."

A third wrote: "So sorry to read this. Mike was a great guy to work with. I have loads of memories of having a right laugh with him. Thoughts are with his family at this horrible time."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man was found by officers in the Bridge of Earn area of Perthshire around 12.50pm on Saturday, 25 March, 2023.

"The family of missing man Michael Sheldon, 39, from Glasgow has been informed.

"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
