Tributes paid to 'one in a million' Scots teen who died on gap year to Indonesia

A Scots teenager has died during a gap year trip to Indonesia and was described as "one in a million" by grieving pals.

Andy Towns, 18, is believed to have died after being knocked down by a minibus in Bali on Saturday.

The keen footballer, who played for North Merchiston FC as a youngster, was from Edinburgh .

He attended Boroughmuir High School, which has informed pupils of the tragedy.

On Twitter , Boroughmuir Seniors wrote: "Absolutely heartbroken.

Heartbroken dad denied life-saving operation by NHS chiefs and given six months to live  

"Andy Towns, one in a million, you'll never be forgotten.

"Rest easy brother."

A minute silence was held by Andy's former club, North Merchiston FC, ahead of all yesterday's games to pay their respects.

North Merchiston FC Blacks - Under 13s tweeted: "The club is devastated to hear the loss of 18 year old Andy Towns.

'I had a choice, I had power' Brave domestic abuse survivor relives escaping life of confusion and fear  

"Andy was at the club for a number of seasons and will be sorely missed by all at the club."

Andy's family were too distressed to comment.
