Tributes have been made to a Northern Ireland man who worked in the local film and television industry for 20 years.

Gary Campbell, who passed away on Friday, May 13, has been described as a "leading light" within the film and TV community and worked on shows such as Line of Duty, Derry Girls and Bloodlands.

He has left behind his wife Carolyn and two sons Jonathon and Matthew.

Northern Ireland Screen paid tribute to Gary saying: "We were so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Gary Campbell on Friday 13 May.

"Gary was a leading light of the armoury department for over 20 years working on Line of Duty, Bloodlands, Derry Girls and Blue Lights to name but a few. Gary could turn his hand to most things on a film set. In addition to armoury Gary had extensive experience working across the props, set dressing and set building departments. He will be greatly missed by everyone in the film and TV community in Northern Ireland.

"A Service of Thanksgiving for Gary’s life will be held in St Patrick’s Church, Templepatrick on Wednesday 18th May at 1.30pm and afterwards to Sixmile Cemetery.

"Our thoughts are with his wife Carolyn, sons Jonathon and Matthew, family and friends at this difficult time."

Others have taken to social media to express their condolences at Gary's passing, saying that he was someone many in the film industry looked up to.

One person said: "Gary was a legend, can’t believe I’m reading this. Always had smile on his face even at 1am in the freezing cold filming LOD.

"Thoughts are with his family and colleagues."

Another said: "I worked with Gary on Line of Duty, and on a few other projects. His knowledge and experience was invaluable. He truly was a ‘Top bloke’. He will be sorely missed throughout the industry. Sincerest condolences to all his friends and family."
