Tributes paid to Murray International Trust chair

The directors of Murray International Trust have announced that its chairman Simon Fraser died in the early hours of 9 August following a short illness.

He joined the board in May 2020 and was appointed chair in April 2021.

A statement noted that even in this short time, he contributed significantly to the company. The directors extended their condolences to his family.

On an interim basis, senior independent director David Hardie has agreed to take over chair duties, while non-executive director Alexandra Mackesy will to become senior independent director and to chair the Remuneration Committee.

Fraser’s distinguished career in asset management includes 28 years at Fidelity International, where he was global chief investment officer.

He recently retired as chairman of the F&C Investment Trust and currently serves as chairman of the Investor Forum, treasurer of The King’s Fund, and is a trustee of the Abbotsford Trust.

Fraser, who has also served on the boards of Barclays and Ashmore, studied geography at the University of St Andrews.
