Tributes paid to mum-of-two, 35, who died after epilepsy battle

The family of a 'smiley' mum-of-two who died suddenly have paid tribute to her devotion to her children.

Natalie McGeough, from Redcar, developed epilepsy when she was just seven - but her condition worsened as she grew older.

In recent years, the 35-year-old was suffering from up to "13 or 14" seizures a day, YorkshireLive reports.

Her epilepsy left her regularly needing hospital treatment. One fall several years ago saw her suffer an eye injury when she landed against a radiator and burned her face after having a seizure.

Despite her struggles, Natalie remained incredibly upbeat and was a devoted mum to her two young children, 10-year-old Hayton and six-year-old Harry.

"Natalie was always really smiley," said Natalie's mum Rhona Wright.

"No matter what she went through, she would always try to help other people. She was always smiling.

"As a mum she was fantastic. She had so much strength.

"A couple of years ago I took her out to get the children's Christmas presents. She ended up having a seizure so we came home.

"But she wanted to go straight back into Redcar to get the kids their presents. It happened again, but she was determined to get the presents so we went back.

"When it came to the kids, she would have done anything for them."

Sadly, the 35-year-old sadly passed away on February 11, leaving behind her partner Scott and two young children.

Natalie's family were determined to give her the send-off she deserves but were struggling to afford the funeral they had planned - until friends, family and even strangers stepped in to help.

A GoFundMe page set up less than a week ago has already doubled their £1,500 target.

"The response has been great," said Rhona.

"We want to have flowers which are purple and white - the colours of epilepsy. The fundraising has been amazing.

"It has really touched us that there are so many kind and caring people out there. We have been overwhelmed by the support we've had."
