Tributes are being paid to a much loved face at a popular Falkirk area farm.

Hamish the horse sadly passes away this morning at Muiravinside Farm after a short illness with staff and vets said to be devastated.

The sad news was announced through a statement on the Falkirk Parks Facebook page.

It reads: "It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that Hamish, the very handsome face of Muiravonside Farm, has sadly passed away this morning.

Staff are said to be heartbroken (Muiravonside Farm)

"Everyone at the farm worked hard to nurse Hamish through a few months of illness, but sadly he took a turn for the worse and has had to leave us today.

"The staff and the vets are understandably upset, so we have took the decision to keep the farm closed for the rest of the day.

"We’ll be back open as normal from tomorrow (Friday 4th Nov).

"Hamish will be greatly missed."

Regular visitors have been paying their respects, with one saying: "Very sad to hear this. Thinking of you all."

Another wrote: "RIP Hamish. Beautiful big boy."

A third commented: "It won't be the same without you Hamish. RIP."
