Tributes paid to much loved Bier Halle worker who lost battle with Covid-19

A popular Glasgow venue has paid tribute to a long-standing staff member who passed away after contracting coronavirus.

Teofilo Ituralde, known as Teo, was a kitchen worker at Bier Halle in the city centre for more than a decade.

Teo battled back from bypass surgery two years ago, but tragically succumbed to Covid-19 this week.

His colleagues have paid tribute to him, describing him as a "strong willed person" who "commanded great respect and was an inspiration".

A statement on the company's Facebook page said: "It is with great sadness that we announce we lost one of our longest serving staff members to Covid-19 this week. Teofilo Ituralde or ‘Teo’ was an integral part of our kitchen team and had been a part of our Bier Halle family for over 10 years.

"At work he commanded great respect and was an inspiration to his colleagues. Two years ago he had a bypass surgery but as soon as he was fit he was straight back to work, this is why it has been such a shock that such a strong willed person could succumb to this awful virus.

"The dangers are still very real and more than ever we have to do everything in our power to keep the infection rate down. RIP Teo, we love you and miss you always. Stay safe! 'It’ll all end in Bier’s!'"
