Tributes paid to 'kind-hearted, bubbly' Derbyshire hospital worker who died after catching Covid-19

Tributes have been paid to a “kind-hearted” and “bubbly” NHS hospital worker who died after contracting Covid-19.

Sandra Scott, 49, has been described by colleagues as a “valued and much loved member” of her team.

She joined Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust as a supervisor at Walton Hospital in 2001, before being promoted to deputy manager at Derbyshire Healthcare’s Hartington Unit in 2019.

Ms Scott, from Chesterfield, died after catching coronavirus, the NHS Trust announced on Friday.

Her team at the Hartington Unit “pointed to how proud she was to have worked for the NHS” – describing her as “supportive”.

Paying tribute to Ms Scott, the trust’s chief executive, Tracy Allen, said: “This is a day I desperately wished we would not have to face, and it comes as a poignant reminder of the situation we are indeed facing every day.

“I’m so grateful to all of my colleagues for their continued courage, commitment and compassion.

“We are working closely with Sandra’s colleagues, and her husband Craig, to offer all the support we can at this terribly sad time.”
