Tributes paid to 'kind and cheery' Scots man found dead after Falkirk house fire

Tributes have been paid to a "kind and cheery" Scots man found dead following a house fire in Falkirk.

The 60-year-old, named locally as Gordon, was discovered after mercy crews arrived at the scene on Wilson Gardens, in Camelon, at around 8.20pm last night.

A major police probe has been launched as officers establish how the blaze broke out.

Forensic teams were spotted collecting evidence inside the property.

A woman, who lives on the street, told the Record: "I heard and seen the fire engines, but didn't expected it to be anything like this, I thought it might have been a false alarm.

Bunches of flowers have been left in tribute to the tragic victim in the garden.

His death is being treated as unexplained.

A Police spokesperson said: "Around 8.20pm on Thursday 8 April 2021 officers were called to a report of a fire at a property on Wilson Gardens, Falkirk.

"Emergency services attended and a 60-year-old man was pronounced dead. His family have been made aware.

"A joint investigation, with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, is underway, and the cause of death is currently being treated as unexplained. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
