Tributes paid to Irish based man who died while travelling to England to start new job

Tributes have been paid to an Irish based man who sadly passed away recently on the way to England to start a new job.

Tadas Stankus lived in Midleton, Co Cork, with his wife and three children for many years and is originally from Lithuania.

GoFundMe page  has been started to help the family repatriate Tadas' body and to cover funeral costs.

East Cork councillor Danielle Twomey knows the family well and she paid tribute to Tadas, Cork Beo reports.

"A few days ago something terrible happened and a local Midleton man, tragically passed away while working in England. Leaving behind a wife and three wonderful children.

"This family is known to me and our daughters are very good friends so it’s a case that’s extremely personal to me.

"This family have lived in Midleton for a long time. Their children were reared here and go to school and college here.

"My heart is breaking for this family who’s dad was the life and the rock of their family and he has just been taken so suddenly.

"I rarely ask people to support fundraisers unless I truly believe in the cause or the person related is one of our own.

"Tadas is one of our own and I’m asking we come together and support this family."
