Tributes paid to 'devoted mother' who died in a crash on A5

A woman who died following a crash on a major road was a "devoted mother" and "loving grandmother".

Margaret Edwards died following the one-vehicle crash on the A5 in the village of Pentrefoelas, Conwy, on Saturday evening.

The 74-year-old came from Betws Gwerfil Goch, Denbighshire, and was a singer-songwriter and choir conductor.

In a statement issued by North Wales Police, her family said: "A devoted mother to Elin, Leisa and Tudur and a proud and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, Margaret Edwards’ contribution to her community, to education and music was invaluable.

"As a singer songwriter, Côr Bro Gwerfyl’s conductor and the translator of the well- known song ‘Un dydd ar y tro’, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all."

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident which happened on the A5 at about 9.20pm on Saturday, and involved a silver coloured Toyota Rav 4.

Sergeant Anja Macleod of North Wales Police roads policing unit said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Margaret Edwards at this incredibly difficult time.

"We continue to appeal to anybody who may have been travelling along the A5 at around 9:20pm to come forward."

Anyone with information in relation to the crash is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference X186642.
