Tributes paid to dad David McMillan who died after crashing his quad bike in Glasgow

Tributes have been paid to a dad who died after his quad bike crashed into a lamp post in Glasgow.

David McMillan, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident in Archerhill Road in the Knightswood area of the city.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene around 4.50pm on Thursday but paramedics were unable to save him.

His devastated family told the Scottish Sun that David had just become a dad just six weeks before the incident.

A statement released to the newspaper read: “David was a much loved son, brother, partner and new dad to six-week-old baby boy.

“He was a huge character, bright and bubbly with a heart of gold. It was a tragic accident which has left family and friends absolutely broken.”

Friends and family have since paid tribute to David on social media .

Jade Rough said: “One of the nicest boys you could ever meet. RIP David.”

Jai O’Donnell wrote: “Rest easy big man.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to a report that a man was seriously injured after coming off his quad bike and crashing into a lamp post on Archerhill Road, Knightswood, Glasgow around 4.50 pm on Thursday, November 28, 2019.

"Emergency services attended, however, a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road closed until 10.15 pm while officers carried out an investigation into the incident."
