Tributes paid to dad, 21, who died following fatal County Durham collision

Tributes have been paid to a "much loved" father after he died following a collision in County Durham.

Kieron Towers was the driver of a Renault Clio when it collided with a Toyota Aygo on Pemberton Road in Allensford, near Consett, just after 7pm on Thursday.

Kieron was taken to hospital but sadly passed away a short time later as a result of his injuries.

The family of the 21-year-old from Consett said: “Kieron was a much loved father, son, grandson, brother and uncle.

“We are all truly devastated about our loss and would ask to be left to grieve in peace.”

Three of the four passengers in the Clio were taken to hospital with injuries, police said.

The driver of the Aygo, a woman in her 60s received serious injuries and remains in hospital.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Enquiries are currently ongoing but if you have any information or dash cam footage, please call 101 and quote incident reference 353 of July 29."
