Paige failed to turn up for her part-time job on Saturday, March 19, and was reported missing by her worried family.
After a massive search her body was found two days later in a wooded area off Great Western Road - around half a mile a from where she had last been seen in Clydebank.
A shopkeeper had spotted her going into the Delicious Deli around 8.15am on the morning she went missing and police attention was soon focused on the deli and its owner John Leathem, then aged 32.
The deli, which was not far from Paige's home, was cordoned off and police were seen searching cars and a house.
On March 24, Leathem was arrested in connection with Paige's death.
He pled guilty on September 5 ahead of a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
It emerged during the trial that Paige was stabbed 61 times by Leathem and slashed a further 85 times.
His defence agents claimed Leathem panicked after Paige threatened to accuse him of sexual assault if he didn't give her a job.
The married father claimed to have grabbed the knife at that point and carried out his brutal assault.
Judge Lady Rae, who oversaw the trial, said she found it hard to believe that this all happened within 10 minutes of Paige entering the deli.
She later said there was no evidence to support Leathem's assertion.
CCTV showed Leathem carrying Paige's body outside wrapped in a black bin bag 10 minutes after she'd been seen entering his business.
He suggested that 'most certainly' her body was stored in Leathem's garden shed.
Leathem was found guilty and Lady Rae branded his actions: "A savage, frenzied attack on a child."
He was initially sentenced to 27 years in prison but had the term reduced to 23 years on appeal.
