Tributes paid to 'caring' and 'warm' landlady who suddenly passed away

Tributes have been paid to a beloved landlady from Atherton who tragically passed away. Janet Williams suddenly died on Wednesday (May 18) after being rushed to hospital when she fell ill.

Janet, 57, was once the landlady of the popular Pendle Witch Pub in Atherton and enjoyed stints as a bar maid at other local pubs such as the Jolly Naylor, The George IV and The Kings Head where she met her husband Carl. He sadly passed away six years ago. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, her eldest son, Thomas described Janet as a ‘caring’ and 'warm' mother who loved the people of Atherton.

Thomas, 26, said he had noticed nothing out of the ordinary the last time he saw her with her playing with her grandson, Lincoln. He told the MEN : “She was loved by a lot of people, not just her family.

“She was a lovely woman, she was kind, caring, thoughtful and warm. She’d never leave anybody out, she took people in when they had nowhere to go and she did anything for anybody.

“She would let people stop at her home, take them in, keep them fed. The last time I spoke to her she was lovely, she was playing with her grandson.

"It’s been really hard, but the support we’ve received is amazing, it really is. I’ve got everybody who knew her willing to help in their own way and I really appreciate it.

"It was so sudden and we’ve not been sure about what to do."

The family have set up a GoFundMe to raise money for her funeral, you can donate here.
